If there is one piece of advice that we would give any aspiring home cook it would be this: Make your own Stock! Stock Recipes are so simple to create yet for so many the thought of making your own Stock seems too challenging. Maybe it’s considered too time consuming? The reality is while yes, making a good Stock does take time – it’s such a simple process and most of the time you don’t even need to remember it’s being cooked! Just go off and do your own thing
The benefits of a good home cooked stock is it will elevate the flavor of your meal. Quite significantly. Any dish you’ve made that asks you to add water, don’t. Add Stock and see what the difference tastes like for yourself. Recipes such as Soups, Stews and slow braised meats benefit so much from adding a good Stock
Finally, the home cooked versions of Stock are so much healthier than the store bought equivalents. Stock at the store is loaded with so much salt to preserve its shelf life. However as a trade off, is an extremely bad thing for you to eat. Making your own stock requires no salt, only what you decide to add to give the recipe the flavor profile you desire
