Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings

Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings

Like so many things in life, the simple things are often the best. This could not be truer when it comes to these delicious Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings. There’s no fussing about with this recipe, a simple coating of Salt and Pepper is all you need to make quite possibly the best tasting Chicken Wings you’ll ever eat. This dish is so easy to make, takes very little time, and is a fantastic way to showcase the flavor and versatility of one of the most popular ingredients in the world, Chicken Wings!

How to make these amazing Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings

This dish is so easy to make. All you need are a bunch of Chicken Wings, some Salt and Pepper, a bit of Flour, and some Oil that’s good to fry with. That’s it! The Chicken Wings are first lightly coated in the Flour which has been aggressively seasoned with Salt and Pepper

They are then lightly shallow fried in hot Oil on the stovetop to brown the outside and begin to form a crispy coating. This technique doesn’t completely cook the Wings through, it’s just to develop that wonderful crust. So, about 2 minutes on each side over a relatively high heat will be enough

These delicious Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings are so easy to make, ready in under 40 minutes

You’ll need to batch fry the Chicken Wings during this step. Purely because there’s isn’t really a frying pan in the world large enough to fry 2 lbs. of Chicken Wings in 1 go! You want to avoid overcrowding the pan, as this will result in lowering the Oil temperature and possibly risking the crispiness of the coating

So, simply fry them up in 2 – 3 batches, ensuring you add a little bit more Oil to the pan and allow it to heat up before you add the Wings. Once the Wings are fried, set them aside on an elevated Wire Rack to remove any excess Oil. When all your Wings are cooked, transfer them to a large roasting tray for the final step in the cooking process

Once Shallow Fried, we oven bake the Chicken Wings to completely cook through throughout

There’s no denying that the best way to extract the most amount of flavor from Chicken is through oven roasting. There’s nothing quite like the flavor of Roast Chicken, hot out of the oven. So, the final step in cooking these delicious Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings is to roast them in the oven for about 10 minutes at 400F

At the 10 minute mark we recommend checking the internal temperature of the Chicken Wings. If they’re over 160F, then they are good to go! If not, pop them in for a few more minutes until they’re done. It’s a good idea to check the temperature of a few different Wings too, as not only do the Wings come in different sizes, but different parts of the Oven generally tend to be hotter / cooler than others

Twice cooked Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings
Once pan fried, the Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings are finished in the Oven until perfectly cooked

Once cooked, the Wings are ready to go! If you want to add even more Salt and Pepper to them, given them one more generous coating before serving. This is an optional step, and we recommend giving them a taste before adding extra seasoning
