When it comes to flavors there’s also millions of combinations. The likes of BWWs have really tested every one out. Well, as avid Chicken Wing enjoyers here at Dinnertime Somewhere, we consider ourselves somewhat of an authority on defining what are the best Chicken Wings. These amazing Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings are right up there with the best Chicken Wings you’ll ever eat. So, lets jump into showing you how to make this delicious dish!

The first step in this recipe is cooking the Chicken Wings

A fantastic way to cook Chicken wings is twice cooking them. First, the Wings are pan fried to brown the Chicken Wings and lock in all that juiciness and flavor. They are then oven roasted until crispy and perfect to eat. Now, in each of these steps there’s a few little tricks we’ve got up our sleeves to absolutely nail the cook and flavor for this dish

First, we coat the Chicken Wings in a simple breading mixture of AP Flour, Salt, and Pepper. If you like you can get fancy and add some Garlic Powder and Onion Powder to the breading. There’s really no breading that doesn’t enjoy those two ingredients being included in it! However, let’s keep this dish super-simple and stick with the classic combo of Salt and Pepper

Twice cooked Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings
These delicious Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings are twice cooked, making them beautifully crispy and tender

Before the Chicken goes into the Breading, give them their own generous seasoning of Salt and Pepper on both sides. Chicken Wings are one of those ingredients that can take a lot of seasoning, and especially our Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings. The Garlic and Parmesan are going to add such an intense flavor that a generous seasoning of Salt and Pepper is essential

Once the Chicken is breaded, pan fry them for about 2 minutes on each side

During this step the goal is not to completely cook the Chicken Wings. Instead, we are lightly browning them and ensuring the breading begins to form its crispy coating. About 2 minutes on each side over a high heat in a hot pan filled with enough Oil for a shallow fry is all that is needed

Be generous with the Oil in the pan too. Not enough that we’re completely submerging the Chicken, but enough to ensure a good crust will form. Ensure the Oil is hot enough before adding the Chicken too as this will avoid the coating becoming soggy

Once you’ve shallow fried the Chicken, remove them from the Pan and place them directly onto a wire rack. This will remove any excess Oil from the Wings. Leave them for a few minutes before transferring the Chicken to a large sheet pan to go in the Oven

The second cooking technique for the Chicken is roasting them until completely cooked

To finish the Chicken Wings, they are oven roasted until cooked completely through. Oven roasting Chicken Wings is always a safe bet and guarantees evenly cooked Chicken Wings. It will take about 10 minutes in the oven set to 400F, but we recommend checking the internal temperature at the 10 minute mark. If those wings are over 160F, they’re good to eat!

By breading and shallow frying, the Chicken Wings in Oil before putting them in the oven we’re locking in the aggressive seasoning from earlier. The breading also gives the Chicken Wings an extra crispy coating that you just won’t achieve by only oven roasting them. It’s a little bit more effort, but well worth it for the best Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings

Simple Garlic Butter for Chicken Wings
The Garlic Butter is what makes this dish truly special. It’s also so easy to make!

While the Wings are in the oven it’s time to make the Garlic Butter

The good news is that this sauce may very well be the easiest sauce in the cooking world to make. All you need to do is melt a decent quantity of Butter in a saucepan over low heat. Allow the Butter to gradually melt by placing it over low heat. This will ensure the Butter doesn’t burn

While the Butter is melting, peel and very finely dice 6 Garlic Cloves. Try to get them finely diced, so we recommend running a sharp knife over them a bunch of times until you’ve got a fine, almost paste-like consistency

Once the Butter has melted, add the Garlic and mix it through. Cook the Garlic until fragrant, which basically means the kitchen will be filled with a ridiculously tasty smell of Garlic. This will take about 2 minutes, at which point you can turn off the heat and set the Garlic Butter aside. Once the Wings are done you can just re-heat it if needed

Before adding the Garlic Butter to the Chicken Wings (which we do by simply pouring it straight over the Wings in a bowl), add some freshly chopped Parsley. This gives a nice brightness to the sauce, as well as some color

The final step is to then grate a generous amount of Parmesan Cheese over the plated Wings. You can serve any additional Garlic Butter sauce you’ve got in the saucepan as a side sauce for dipping. Serve the Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings along with a load of napkins because, like all good food should be, it’s messy eating!

Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. Chicken Wings
  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 4 tbsp. Vegetable / Canola Oil
  • ¼ cup Fresh Parsley, finely chopped
  • 50g Unsalted Butter
  • 6 Garlic Cloves, finely diced
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese, freshly grated
  • Salt and Pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine the Flour with 1 tsp. of Salt and ½ tsp. of Pepper in a large bowl and mix well
  2. Season the Chicken Wings well with Salt and Pepper then coat in the Flour. Pat any excess Flour off the Chicken and set them aside

  4. Place the Chicken on a large sheet pan and then bake in the Oven at 400F for 10 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the Chicken Wings reaches 160F
  5. While the Chicken is in the oven melt the Butter in a saucepan over low heat. Once melted, add the Garlic and cook until fragrant (2 minutes should be enough). Remove from heat
  6. When ready to serve, place the Chicken Wings in a bowl. Add Parsley to the Garlic Butter (reheat if necessary), then pour over the Chicken Wings. Finish by generously sprinkling Wings with Parmesan Cheese
