One of the joys of the cooler months of the year is slow cooking. You know the kind we’re talking about. Simple food cooked low and slow for hours until it’s rich, tender, and irresistible. There are so many amazing Slow Cooked Recipes out there that are great for lazy weekend cooking. In this list, we’ve compiled 12 of our favorite Slow Cooked Recipes that are warming, hearty, and bursting full of big flavors

Meals perfect for the cooler months of the year

These meals are perfect for cooking throughout Fall and Winter. They require a consistent heat, either on the stovetop being braised in a large pot or Dutch oven or slowly roasting away in the oven. Keeping that heat ongoing for hours on end while the beautiful flavors develop will fill your house with the most wonderful aromas. It’ll also keep your place warm too! So not only are you treated to an amazing tasting dish, but you’ll be super cozy and comfortable while it’s doing its thing

What’s great about slow cooking is the dishes require very little effort. Most require a little bit of work at the beginning, and then you simply leave it to cook away and develop flavors. I love putting on a slow cooking dish in the morning and then getting on with my day. It’s effortless cooking at its finest, and we’re totally here for it! So, lets get to the list of these amazing recipes!

10 Hour Slow Cooked Lamb Shoulder

Slow Cooked Lamb Shoulder

We kick off our list of the 12 best Slow Cooked Recipes with the most epic of all slow cooking. We’re talking about a whopping 10 hours of slow roasting in the oven, producing the most flavorsome and tender Lamb you’ve ever eaten in your life!

Lamb Shoulder is an amazing cut of Lamb, packed full of fatty, wonderful flavors. The best way to enjoy this cut of meat is to slow cook it. Slow cooking will break down the fat and tenderize the meat. Prepare this dish when you wake up in the morning by giving it a simple seasoning of Salt, Olive Oil, and Rosemary. Then put it into the oven for 10 hours until it’s time to eat!

Beef and Guinness Pie

Beef and Guinness Pie

An English pub dinner classic is what’s being served up here. Well, it’s cold outside so sometimes making that trek to the pub is a little too much. The solution: Make your own delicious Beef and Guinness Pie at home! This dish uses a braising Beef like Chuck or Beef Cheeks. The meat is cooked down in a rich tomato-based sauce which is flavored with Guinness Beer for a few hours until beautiful and tender

Top it all off with some flaky Puff Pastry and bake until golden-brown and delicious. The best way to enjoy this pie is with a big helping of perfectly cooked Mashed Potatoes for the ultimate in British comfort food

Creamy Shrimp Bisque

Creamy Shrimp Bisque

You don’t normally associate slow cooking with Seafood, but for this dish the slow cooking is needed to make this amazing Soup. All the amazing Shrimp flavor created in this delicious Bisque comes from making a broth out of the Shrimp heads and shells. Once the broth is ready it’s thickened up with Heavy Cream and then topped with as many Jumbo Shrimp as you can get your hands on. This is a great way to enjoy Seafood in a hearty, warming dish

Braised Beef Cheeks in Pedro Ximenez

Braised Beef Cheeks

This is one of my all-time favorite dishes! Its origins are from a famous Melbourne restaurant called Movida. Famous for its Spanish fare, this beautiful Braised Beef Cheeks recipe is one of their signature dishes. The richness of the Beef is further accentuated by slowly braising it in a sweet sherry known as Pedro Ximenez. Its served on a bed of buttery, creamy Cauliflower Puree and is every bit as decadent as it looks

Braised Beef with Noodles

Braised Beef with Noodles

While we’re on the topic of braising Beef, this is another beautiful recipe that we have created. The Beef is slowly braised in a Red Wine based liquid and will render the Beef beautiful and tender once cooked. While that Beef is braising away in the pot, try making your very own hand-pulled noodles to serve with the dish! They are surprisingly easy to make and are the perfect pairing for Beef. Not only that, but it also makes for a fun way to spend the afternoon indoors in a cold weekend day

Bolognese Stuffed Conchiglioni

Bolognese Stuffed Conchiglioni

A Tomato-based Bolognese sauce is just going to taste better the longer and slower you cook it for. So, set aside a few hours and slowly cook this amazingly rich Bolognese Sauce. Sure, you could then simply serve the sauce with some Spaghetti, but for added showmanship why not try stuffing it into these giant Shell Pastas and then baking it with a load of Parmesan Cheese? It’s well worth the effort

Epic Short Rib Lasagna

One of our favorite Slow Cooked Recipes has to be Lasagna. For the ultimate flavor try this Epic Short Rib Lasagna. Short Ribs are packed with so much flavor and once they’ve been braised for a few hours will simply fall apart with tenderness. Layer the Lasagna with Pasta sheets, the Short Ribs, and a homemade cheesy Béchamel Sauce and bake until the whole thing comes together. In terms of comfort food there’s not much that can compare to this perfect Lasagna recipe

Kansas Style Pork Ribs

Kansas Style Pork Ribs Meal Plan

There are so many unique styles of Ribs you can create. I’m not just talking about the USA where the famous Memphis, Kansas, and Carolina style ribs cause debate amongst BBQ enthusiasts. Outside of the US there’s loads of great ways to prepare Ribs. In our opinion, all of them are good!

When it comes to slow cooking Ribs however, you’ve gotta stick with the US of A. This recipe is our Kansas Style Pork Ribs, which uses a tomato-based sauce which gives the Ribs a delicious tangy and subtly sweet flavor. These bad boys will take a few hours cooking low and slow in the oven. Plenty of time to get your sides of Beans and Mac and Cheese ready!

Braised Lamb Shanks with Grits

Braised Lamb Shanks with Grits

This beautiful plate of food is rivaled only by it’s great taste! Lamb Shanks are sometimes an overlooked cut of meat to cook with, but we highly recommend using them. They’re packed full of flavor and are easy to prepare. For this dish the Lamb Shanks are slowly braised in a rich sauce and then topped over creamy homemade Grits. We finish the dish with some Moroccan flair by sprinkling over a generous amount of sweet Pomegranate seeds

Lamb Shepherd’s Pie with Harissa

Lamb Shepherd's Pie

Shepherd’s Pie is another classic English Pub meal that you can easily make at home. The dish consists of seasoned ground meat that has been slowly cooked in a gravy or sauce until thickened. It’s then topped with a ‘crust’ consisting of Mashed Potatoes and then baked in the oven. For our version we swap out the more commonly used ground Beef with ground Lamb. It’s a fatty cut of meat which means there’s loads of flavor!

We season the ground Lamb with a delicious mix of spices, including Harissa which is a famous spice from northern Africa. The flavors intensify as the meat is slowly cooked over several hours. It’s a delicious hearty meal that’s so easy to make

Puff Pastry Chicken Pot Pie

Puff Pastry Chicken Pot Pie

A good old fashioned Chicken Pot Pie is sometimes what the doctor ordered. This is our easy no fuss Chicken Pot Pie recipe that anyone can make at home. What I love about a Chicken Pot Pie is you can load it up with all kinds of delicious vegetables, making it a tasty way to get a load of veggies into a dish. The unique twist on this dish is instead of baking the pie with a crust of pastry, we bake it separately. You can then cut up the pastry into fun shapes and serve it alongside that rich, creamy pie filling
