Let me make this clear. I love Brownies. Like, I really love them. They’ve got to be one of, if not my all-time favorite chocolate treat. The main issue with cooking Brownies at home, however, is most recipes produce a significant amount of them. While this sounds great, the temptation of eating two or three brownies a day for 2 weeks straight is too much for me, and it’s not great for the waistline! Therefore, this recipe for Small Batch Brownies for Two is ideal for when you want to enjoy Brownies, but don’t want a huge amount of them leftover afterwards

How to make Small Batch Brownies for Two

In addition to being super tasty, one of the great things about Brownies is how simple they are to make. As far as baking goes, Brownies are one of the easiest desserts to make. If you break it all down, at the end of the day all you’re doing is mixing a bunch of stuff together, then baking it in the oven. Yes, there are nuances in the process, but even poorly prepared Brownies are still going to taste great!

For this recipe, the only ‘trick’ to preparing the Brownies is when certain ingredients are added to the mixture, and how they are incorporated. For instance, you begin by combining your dry ingredients of Cocoa Powder, Sugar, Flour, Salt, and Baking Powder. Once those are combined, the Egg goes in (to bind it all together), then the Melted Butter, and finally the Melted Chocolate

This recipe will produce the most amazing Small Batch Brownies for Two, no need to share!

These ingredients are added to the bowl separately to help them incorporate into the mixture evenly, and without having to aggressively mix them in. The heavier you start to mix the wet ingredients with the dry, the tougher your Brownies will end up

So, when adding the Melted Butter, and then the Melted Chocolate, it is best to gradually fold them into the mixture using a spatula. Folding the wet ingredients in allows air to be added and then retained in the mixture. So, when baked, you’ll have those lovely air pockets which help to keep the Brownies beautiful and fluffy

Once baked, ensure you let the Brownies cool before attempting to remove from the Loaf Pan

This is perhaps the most challenging part of the whole recipe. That is, resisting the temptation to dive into the Brownies as soon as they are cooked! That delicious smell has been wafting through your house for the last 20 minutes as the Brownies have been baking in the oven, and you’re so hungry for a bite!

However, please avoid diving into those Brownies once you take them out of the oven. They will be piping hot, and as you all know a great Brownie is going to be crusty on the outside and gooey on the inside. When they’re this hot, the inside will be super-gooey and the crust is still finalizing it’s final form. Attempting to remove them from the pan at this point will see them start to fall apart

So, as challenging as it may be, you must wait for the Brownies to cool before attempting to remove them from the pan and / or slicing them up. We recommend waiting at least 15 minutes, preferably a little longer before removing and slicing

This recipe will easily provide enough Brownies for two people

The whole purpose of this recipe is to ensure that you get that big Brownie fix you’re after. The good news is this recipe will produce an ample number of Brownies for two people. After road testing this recipe (eg: eating lots of Brownies), it’ll produce about 4 – 6 decent sized Brownies

So, ‘technically’ there is enough quantity of Brownies in this recipe to feed 4 people. However, let’s be serious, while one serving of Brownie is probably enough for one person to enjoy, the reality is – you always want another one!

So be comfortable in knowing if you make this dish there will be a backup Brownie ready to be devoured if you so desire. Which, to me, is a critical component of eating Brownies. The worst thing that can happen after eating one is not being able to get another one. So, this recipe’s got you covered. When we say this dish is ‘Brownies for Two’, that also means each person gets an extra one to enjoy. Which is win-win in my book!

Brownies with Ice Cream
Brownies are best enjoyed with a big scoop of your favorite Ice Cream

The best way to enjoy Brownies

There is perhaps no better experience than enjoying a fresh, warm Brownie along with a scoop of your favorite Ice Cream. We’re partial to good quality Vanilla Ice Cream here at Dinnertime Somewhere, but the flavor choice is totally up to you!

The contrast of hot and cold is a great pairing, and the Ice Cream just goes so well with the gooey texture of a perfectly cooked Brownie. Sure, you can enjoy the Brownie by itself and it’s nothing short of a phenomenal eating experience. However, for the best result we highly recommend enjoying them with some Ice Cream

The best part about making Brownies for Two

Other than the amazing taste, the best part about these Brownies is they are all yours! There’s no sharing required. If you’ve got a big batch of Brownies leftover then you’ll feel compelled, perhaps even obliged to share them with friends and colleagues. No need for that with this recipe! You’re cooking for two, so enjoy the Brownies yourself! It’s the purest expression of indulgence, because you know what? You deserve it!
