Chicken Caesar Salad Sandwich
This recipe may sound like a strand concept, but trust us, it works! This delicious dish takes all of the hallmarks of a Caesar Salad and translates those flavors and textures into a sandwich! Once you bite into this Chicken Caesar Salad Sandwich you’ll immediately be reminded of those sweet and salty flavors of a Caesar Salad. What makes this dish so unique is however, a massive ‘crouton’ that sits in the middle of the sandwich. It adds an amazing crunchy texture and taste to the dish!
What ingredients go into the Chicken Caesar Salad Sandwich
To maintain those familiar flavors of a Caesar Salad, we keep the ingredients very similar to the traditional Salad. Surprisingly they all work exceptionally well in a sandwich, so this dish just makes total sense!

Chicken
For any sandwich or burger, the protein is always the star. For this dish we keep the Chicken simple, as is done in the Caesar Salad. A simple seasoning of Salt and Pepper over some sliced Chicken Breast is all you need
You can slice the Chicken breast on the diagonal and get about 3 – 4 good pieces of Chicken from each breast. Having the Chicken Breast sliced up a little bit will help with reducing the cooking time, and make the sandwich easier to stack. You can add about 2 – 3 pieces of Chicken to each sandwich, depending on how big the pieces are (and how hungry you are!)
Cooking the Chicken is very simple. Just heat up a frying pan over medium high heat. Add a little bit of neutral oil to the pan and when hot, add that Chicken. Pan fry it for about 5 minutes, flip and cook the other side for a few more minutes until the internal temperature is 160F. Allow the Chicken to rest before building the Sandwich

Crouton
For our sandwich we make one big Crouton. It’s surprisingly simple to make and gives the dish its unique characteristics. All you need is a slice of White Bread. Cut off the crusts and drizzle it with a little bit of Olive Oil on both sides
Place the crouton on a sheet pan and roast in the oven until golden-brown. I’d recommend removing the Crouton once the color turns light brown. This way it’ll be super-crunchy, but not heavily cooked enough where the bread starts to turn dry
The large crouton is what really makes this sandwich unique. It wouldn’t be a Caesar Salad without Croutons, so it wouldn’t be a Chicken Caesar Salad Sandwich without one massive Crouton either!
Anchovy Mayonnaise
Anchovies may polarize a lot of people when it comes to their inclusion in a dish. However, you simply cannot have a traditional Caesar Salad without them. Think of them less about ‘adding fish’ to a Salad, and more about them being used as seasoning. Anchovies are quite salty, making them the perfect ingredient to season a salad
To incorporate the Anchovies into our Sandwich we turn them into a Mayonnaise. Don’t worry, we’re not going to get you to make the Mayo from scratch! Simply add them to some Mayonnaise (we recommend Japanese Kewpie Mayo) with Roast Garlic. Mix it all together until smooth and you’re Sandwich Mayo is ready!
We love this Mayo so much we dedicated an entire article and recipe to it. You can check it out here to learn a little more about this wonderful condiment. Don’t worry, we’ve also got the recipe outlined below!

Bacon and Egg
Egg is a classic ingredient in a Caesar Salad, and a welcome addition to our Sandwich. We are also adding Bacon to our Sandwich. It’s less ‘traditional’ when it comes to the Salad, but hey, who ever said no to adding Bacon to a Sandwich?
Keep things simple here. Just an easy pan fry for both the Bacon and Egg is needed. Cook the Bacon until crispy then set it aside to strain off any excess fat. Using the same pan, crack the Egg into the rendered Bacon Fat so the Egg will absorb even more flavor. Cook sunny side up for the perfect oozy, gooey Egg
Greens / Lettuce
I like to use a crunchy Lettuce for this dish. Romaine is a great choice. The large leaves of a Romaine Lettuce are crunchy and sit perfectly in a stacked sandwich. You can use whichever lettuce you like but be sure to include it! It just wouldn’t be a salad without it, and adds to that authentic Caesar Salad flavor we’re looking for
Parmesan Cheese
The final ingredient, but a must-have in a Caesar Salad is the Parmesan Cheese. Now, it may seem like a weird choice adding Parmesan Cheese to a sandwich but give it a try! It really helps to give this sandwich its unique flavor and the sharp, nuttiness of this Cheese is simply amazing
The best way to prepare the Parmesan is to shave off thin slices from a Parmesan Cheese block. You can easily do this by using a potato peeler. Just glide the peeler over the surface of the Cheese and some wonderful shavings will peel away!

Assembling the Chicken Caesar Salad Sandwich
There’s no right or wrong way to stack a Sandwich or a Burger, it’s totally up to personal preference. We like to add the Mayo to the bottom of the Bun, and the Egg near the top. This way the Egg Yolk will ooze down the Burger, flavoring every other ingredient when it’s broken. With the Mayo at the bottom, the ingredients are surrounded with flavor!
I like to add the Crouton to the middle of the sandwich. It’s a nice way to break up the sandwich, using it almost like a divider. If you like, you can also add even more Anchovy Mayo to the Sandwich for even more flavor
Use your favorite Sandwich or Burger Buns for the dish. Nothing fancy required. We opted for some classic Brioche Buns, and they turned out great. Potato Rolls or Milk Rolls are also good choices

- 1 Garlic Bulb
- ½ tsp. Olive Oil

Instructions
Garlic Anchovy Mayo
- Slice the tip off the Garlic Bulb to reveal the flesh inside. Wrap in foil, leaving the top part exposed. Add Oil and Salt then seal
- Roast Garlic in the oven for 1 hour at 350F. Remove and allow it to cool
- Remove the Garlic flesh and add to a bowl along with Mayonnaise and the Anchovies. Mix until smooth and set aside
Sandwich Preparation
- Halfway through the Garlic roasting (30 minutes) add the White Bread to the sheet pan. Drizzle Bread with Oil and roast for 30 minutes (turning halfway through) until crispy and lightly golden-brown
- Slice the Chicken Breasts diagonally into 4 equal size pieces. Season well with Salt and Pepper then add to a frying pan over medium high heat that has some Neutral Oil in it

Recipe Notes
- You can prepare the Crouton in advance. It will keep in the pantry for ages if sealed properly
