This is our delicious take on the BEC using essentially the same ingredients of Pork Egg and Cheese, however the Pork we\u2019re using is from our delicious Kansas Style low and slow cooked Ribs <a href=\"https:\/\/dinnertimesomewhere.com\/index.php\/2023\/10\/18\/pork-ribs-low-and-slow\/\">(recipe here)<\/a><br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-50\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-white-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-element-button\" href=\"#jump-here\">Jump to Recipe<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:40px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Those Bodega Bacon Egg and Cheeses are life savers aren\u2019t they? They cost next to nothing. They\u2019re delicious. Finally, they are so readily available that nary a street corner in NYC would you not be able to find one. Even the bad BECs are still awesome in my opinion<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to make this Classic Pork Egg and Cheese Sandwich<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>What separates this sandwich from every other BEC out there is the Pork. We\u2019re not mucking around here by just frying up some Bacon and calling it a day. No way! For this recipe we\u2019re using our famous slow cooked <a href=\"https:\/\/dinnertimesomewhere.com\/index.php\/dinner\/pork-dinner\/pork-ribs-low-and-slow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BBQ Pork Ribs!<\/a><br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These Ribs are epic, and we\u2019re going to need you to spend a day making these bad boys. If you ever get the craving for some great BBQ Ribs, this is the recipe to use. We marinade the Ribs overnight in a combination of beautiful spices. The Pork absolutely loves marinades, and it soaks up all of that wonderful flavor<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Ribs are then slow cooked in the Oven for 4 hours over a low temperature. What this process does is slowly break down the fibers in the Pork, leaving them beautiful and tender after four hours. It is an Epic meal with vast quantities of Pork, so there\u2019s a very good chance you\u2019ll have leftovers. The answer is simple: Sliced American Cheese. Every time. No exception! The melty consistency that American Cheese produces is simply amazing, and works perfectly in combination with the Pork Ribs and Fried Egg<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the Cheese Melts it really does start to absorb into the other ingredients in the Sandwich. The Cheese almost acts like a condiment, or a sauce for the ingredients in the sandwich. So, don\u2019t bother with any fancy Bries, Camembert\u2019s, or Mozzarella. Sliced American Cheese is the only cheese choice for a Pork Egg and Cheese Sandwich!<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the best bread to use for this Sandwich?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When we\u2019re making leftovers there is no point being super picky. The point of leftover dishes is you utilize whatever you\u2019ve got available in the house. So, heading out to the local artisan bakery to pick up the mornings freshly baked loaf isn\u2019t necessarily required here (although by all means do it if that\u2019s what you\u2019re into!)<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As you can see by our photos we\u2019ve kept this recipe super simple \u2013 regular old White Bread in the toaster. All you really need for this Sandwich is a bread that\u2019s going to hold its shape when exposed to the sauce in the Ribs and the runny Egg Yolk. Toasted White Bread does a great job in maintaining its structure, so it is a great choice<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the true Pork Egg and Cheese Sandwich experience, however, you must go with a Kaiser Roll. They\u2019re the classic roll that NY Bodegas serve these amazing sandwiches in, so we\u2019d be remiss to not suggest them. It\u2019s always a good idea to have a bag of Kaiser Rolls available. Just throw them in the freezer and thaw one out for this delicious dish<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the above, the final difference we\u2019re making is the inclusion of BBQ sauce. Of course, our Kansas Style ribs are smothered in delicious homemade BBQ sauce anyway <a href=\"https:\/\/dinnertimesomewhere.com\/index.php\/2023\/10\/16\/spicy-bbq-sauce-kansas-style\/\">(recipe here)<\/a> so you should have some readily available. If not, you can of course use whatever your favorite BBQ sauce is. I was actually surprised how uncommon adding BBQ sauce to BECs actually is. Heat both on a low temperature gradually as the sugar content can tend to make these burn easily<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Place a little bit of Vegetable Oil in a frypan over medium heat. Once hot, crack both eggs over the top and fry for 5 minutes until cooked. Once done, finish with the Eggs with a pinch of Salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toast your bread in a toaster or under the broiler until golden brown<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assemble the sandwich by layering the American Cheese, Pork, BBQ Sauce and then the Fried egg on top then you\u2019re ready to eat!<br><br><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s it!
