We made a couple of tweaks to the recipe based on both recipe availability, as well as adjusting the flavor profiles to our personal preferences. The main difference is swapping out Maple Syrup for Honey, and adding some freshly squeezed Lemon Juice to the Miso Roast Broccoli right before serving<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s what I love about cooking and finding delicious dishes. You can be inspired by something you stumble across and add your own personal touches to it. This is especially fun when you\u2019ve been cooking for a little while and start to understand what your flavor profile preferences are. It\u2019s simplicity makes it a great option for a healthy vegetable side dish for a home cooked family meal. There are two key components of this dish; roasting the Broccoli, and making the delicious Miso Glaze<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Roasting the Broccoli<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first step is roasting the Broccoli. This is a very easy process, and in our opinion is the best (perhaps the only) way to cook Broccoli. First, cut the Broccoli up into bite-sized florets. Try not to cut the Broccoli pieces too big. As they come off the stem some may be quite large. If so, simply cut them in half down the middle, keeping each floret attached to a stem<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once your Broccoli is all cut up, scatter them on a large sheet pan lined with some aluminum foil or baking paper. Basically, just cover the pan with something to prevent the Broccoli from sticking. You\u2019ll want a pan that\u2019s big enough to allow the Broccoli to scatter evenly without anything overlapping (as this will result in an uneven cook)<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final step before the Broccoli goes into the oven is seasoning. Pour over about 1 tbsp. of Olive Oil and a generous seasoning of Salt then mix well so that everything is coated. Then, into the oven at 400F for about 20 \u2013 25 minutes, turning once. The glaze will probably take about 6 \u2013 7 minutes to make in its entirety, so you can do it once the Broccoli has been in the oven for 15 minutes so it\u2019s ready just as your Broccoli is cooked<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also simply prepare the Miso Glaze in advance and then reheat it when the Broccoli is done. I prefer this option so you\u2019re not multi-tasking too much. Especially as this Miso Glazed Broccoli is likely going to be a side dish, so you\u2019ll have other stuff going on in the kitchen as well<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To make the Miso Glaze, add Mirin to a saucepan over medium high heat and bring it to a boil. This step is done to remove the alcohol, so after about 1 minute of boiling you can drop the heat to medium. Add the Miso Paste and whisk until it\u2019s smooth, fully incorporated into the Mirin<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add the remaining ingredients of Rice Wine Vinegar, Honey, and Olive Oil and continue to cook it for 2 \u2013 3 minutes until a smooth glaze forms. That\u2019s it! They also taste great!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Finalizing the Miso Glazed Broccoli ready for serving<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With the Broccoli cooked and Miso Glaze finished, all you need to do is combine the two. I like to add the Broccoli to a bowl and pour over about half the Miso Glaze. Mix it through and add any more you need until you\u2019re happy with the result<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To finish the dish, add a generous squeeze of fresh Lemon Juice. I recommend \u00bd a Lemon for every 1 floret of Broccoli you\u2019ve cooked. The Lemon Juice brightens up the whole dish and offers a counterbalance to the sweetness of the sauce<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To finish you can sprinkle the Miso Glazed Broccoli with some Sesame Seeds. This is optional, but I always like adding Sesame Seeds to Japanese-inspired dishes. It adds a beautiful visual appeal to the plate, and adds that subtle, nutty Sesame flavor to give the dish a little bit more depth. That\u2019s it! You\u2019re all done. Olive Oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp. Salt<br><br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Miso Glaze Ingredients<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u00bc cup Mirin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp. Miso Paste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp. Rice Wine Vinegar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp. Honey<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp. Olive Oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Juice of 1 Lemon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd tsp. Sesame Seeds (optional)<br><br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Scatter the prepared Broccoli pieces over a large sheet pan lined with foil. Drizzle over the Olive Oil and season with Salt then mix through to coat evenly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Roast the Broccoli for 25 minutes at 400F in the oven, turning them over halfway through. Once the Broccoli starts to char slightly, remove from the Oven and place them into a bowl<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While the Broccoli is roasting you can make the Miso Glaze. First, bring the Mirin to a boil in a saucepan over medium high heat for 1 minute, then add the Miso Paste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whisk well to break down the Miso Paste and incorporate it into the Mirin, then add the Rice Wine Vinegar, Honey, and Olive Oil. Drop the heat to medium low and continue to whisk for 3 minutes until smooth then remove from heat<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the Broccoli is cooked, pour the Miso Glaze over the Broccoli and mix well to coat evenly. Finish the Broccoli with a squeeze of Fresh Lemon Juice and (optional) a pinch of Sesame Seeds.
