If you have leftover steak from dinner the night before then a Steak Sandwich is a perfect meal choice for Lunch the next day. So Roast Beef, Ribeye, Skirt, Flank, are all great choices. For this recipe however, and when making the sandwich from scratch we recommend using Sirloin. Sirloin is a hearty piece of meat with loads of flavor. It is quite cheap to buy when compared to other dishes and soaks up all the flavors in this recipe very well. So why not give Sirloin a try!<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Caramelized Onions are key!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In our opinion good quality Caramelized Onions are non-negotiable when it comes to a Steak Sandwich. Steak and Onions are such a naturally great pairing, and this is true in the Sandwich. The natural sweetness of slow cooked, Caramelized Onions add so much depth of flavor to the dish. They also pair very well with sauces that deliver more acidity and sharpness, such as mustard. Red Onions are our preferred Onions of choice for Caramelization. They are naturally quite sweet and taste phenomenal<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Bread to use?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The best bread to use for The Best Steak Sandwich recipe is, in our opinion, Sourdough. Unlike some other popular bread choices such as Brioche, or Potato rolls, Sourdough is much more durable and supports the Steak much better. A Steak Sandwich naturally is a lot tougher than a standard Burger using ground beef, or even a Chicken Sandwich. The Steak is sturdy, so needs an equally sturdy bread to keep the structure in place. Slightly toast the Sourdough to get that beautiful crusty outside for the perfect bite every time<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Steak and Egg Sandwich<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>My personal favorite is the classic Steak and Egg Sandwich. Perfectly fried Eggs cooked sunny side up laid on top of those delicious cuts of perfectly cooked beef. Press down on the sandwich and all of that beautiful, gooey Egg Yolk drizzles all over the sandwich. Who can resist a sandwich like that?!<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For this sandwich, the only additions to the baseline of Caramelized Onions are American Cheese and Romaine Lettuce. The sauce is just a simple mixture of Japanese Kewpie Mayonnaise and Dijon Mustard. Brie Cheese is quite a powerful flavor, and when we\u2019re talking about Steak Sandwiches there is no need to be subtle. Cumin Powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp. Onion Powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp. Paprika<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp. Coriander Powder<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd tsp Cayenne Pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4 Garlic Cloves, finely chopped<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tbsp. Olive Oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp. Red Wine Vinegar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp. Salt<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp. Pepper<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp. Dijon Mustard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 Tomato, sliced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 slices of American Cheese<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>6 oz. Brie Cheese, sliced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>6 large Romaine Lettuce Leaves<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tsp. Unsalted Butter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp. Vegetable Oil<br><br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>For the Sauce, combine:<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>1 tsp. Dijon Mustard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>3 tbsp. Kewpie Mayonnaise<br><br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>First step is to make the marinade for the Steak. Combine the Cumin Powder, Onion Powder, Coriander Powder, Paprika, Cayenne Pepper, Garlic, Olive Oil, Red Wine Vinegar, Dijon Mustard, Salt, and Pepper into a small bowl. Mix well to combine<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trim any excess fat off the Sirloin Steaks then place them into a Ziplock \/ freezer bag. Pour the Marinade mixture into the bag, seal it, then massage the marinade into the Steak. Refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours, preferably overnight. When ready to cook, bring your steaks out of the fridge 1 hour before cooking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Melt 1 tsp. of Butter into a saucepan over medium heat, then add the Onions. Cook the onions for about 40 \u2013 45 minutes, stirring occasionally until they are a dark golden color. When the pan begins to smoke, add the Steak<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cook for about 3 minutes on each side until the internal temperature of the steak is 115 degrees. Remove from heat and rest for 5 minutes before slicing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While the steak is resting, reduce the heat in the pan to medium, then crack the 2 eggs into the pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes until cooked<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cut the Sourdough in half to form a sandwich and lightly toast on each side for 2 minutes, either under the broiler or directly onto a frypan. Spread butter on the pieces of toast.
