Depending on where you are in the world this may differ. We would highly recommend talking to your local fish monger about what they would recommend. Fresh Atlantic Salmon has always been a great choice for us in the US. The lighter colored Salmon which has a high fat content (the good kind!) and full of flavor. Pacific Salmon varieties are also great. Removing the Salmon skin is quite easy, it\u2019s just all about technique. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=83_BSkDMURg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">We\u2019ve put a video on our YouTube Channel here<\/a> which shows you the best, and easiest way to remove the Salmon Skin effortlessly<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cut the Salmon into bite-sized pieces and then place the pieces in a bowl filled with a combination of Soy Sauce, Ponzu, and Sesame Oil. The acid in these ingredients will \u2018cook\u2019 the Salmon, like how Lemon and Lime do in a Ceviche. We also like to add Raw Onions in here too to give them a bit of a pickle. We find that it takes a bit of the harshness and bitterness out of the raw Onion<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Prepare Seasonable Vegetables to include in your Salmon Poke Bowl<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The second key to a lovely Salmon Poke Bowl recipe is the fruit and vegetables. Like any good local Poke shop you should be able to customize the Poke Bowl to your preferred tastes. Be mindful of the seasonality of fruit and vegetables when preparing the meal too. Fruit and Vegetables that are in season will naturally taste better, so try to opt for those. We made this recipe in late spring, so those summer fruits were really coming into season. Mango was a great choice for us, as were Tomatoes and Bell Peppers<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Perhaps the most important ingredient of all in Salmon Poke Bowl is the Rice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A good Salmon Poke Bowl is best served with Sushi Rice. It\u2019s quite easy to make at home. Yes, we understand it\u2019s not at Sushi Master Levels, however it\u2019s more than serviceable for some tasty homemade Sushi Rice!<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Making your own Sushi Rice at home is not really that difficult. Sushi Rice is very popular these days so it should be available in most grocery stores. If you can\u2019t find it, you will be able to find some at your Asian specialty grocery store<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is important that you first strain all the excess starch off the Sushi Rice before it is cooked. Simply place the rice into a sieve and rinse it with cold water. Once cleaned, cooking Sushi Rice follows a typical approach to rice making. Place it into a saucepan with boiling water. The portions are the same as regular rice too. 1 cup of Rice = 1 \u00bd cups of water. 2 cups of Rice = 3 cups of water, and so on<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Once you\u2019ve added the Rice to boiling water, drop the heat to a low simmer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is our go-to cooking trick for making perfect rice. Once the Rice is in the pot with hot water, you immediately drop the heat to a low simmer. Cover and cook for 8 minutes. Then, turn off the heat but keep the lid on. Let the rice continue to cook for another 7 minutes and it will be cooked perfectly<br><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, and this is where Sushi Rice making differs, you add Rice Wine Vinegar and Salt to the Sushi Rice. Mix it well with a wooden spoon to combine, and then it is ready to eat! Sashimi Grade Salmon, skin removed and cut into bite sized pieces<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 Cup of Sushi Rice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tsp. Rice Wine Vinegar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tbsp. Ponzu Sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp. Soy Sauce<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd tsp. Sesame Oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 Mango, peeled and diced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 cup Cherry Tomatoes, halved<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd Red Onion, sliced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 Bell Pepper, diced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd Cucumber, peeled, seeded and diced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 Carrot, peeled and thinly sliced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp. Chopped Peanuts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tbsp. Chopped Scallions<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salt<br><br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The only cooked element is the Sushi Rice, so we begin there. Strain the rice in a sieve with cold water then place in a Saucepan with 1 \u00bd cups of Boiling Water. Cover, reduce heat to low, and cook for 8 minutes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Turn off the heat but keep the Rice covered for a further 7 minutes. This will continue the cooking process. Once complete, add the Rice Wine Vinegar and a pinch of Salt. Mix well with a wooden spoon<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Combine the Soy Sauce, Ponzu, and Sesame Oil in a bowl then add the Salmon and Red Onions. The acidity of the sauce will begin to cook the ingredients. While this is happening you can prepare your other fruit &amp; vegetables for the Poke Bowl<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Combine all remaining ingredients in a large bowl. After 10 minutes, pour in the Salmon, Onions and Sauce mixture. Mix well to combine<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serve immediately with the Sushi Rice and top with Peanuts and Scallions<br><br><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s all there is to it.
